Programme

Fostering Joy in Learning through Enriching Experiences

Opportunities are created for students to explore, experience and discover Mathematics through daily lessons and interactive PlayStation based activities in the lower and mid primary. The use of manipulatives, ICT tools and Math concept cartoons are ways to enhance the learning experiences and to instil joy of learning. Students develop and apply mathematical concepts to real-life situations, engaging in customized activities that promote flexible thinking and innovative problem-solving approaches.

We use everyday examples to deepen their learning of Mathematics. Solving real-world problems contributes to the students’ metacognitive awareness as they discuss solutions, think aloud and reflect on what they are doing.

 Thinking Routine

The Polya’s Problem Solving Techniques help students develop thinking routine when solving problem sums. This technique comprises of the 4 essential steps of understanding the problem, devising a plan on which heuristics skills to use, carrying out the plan and checking the results.

Primary 1 to Primary 6

• Financial Literacy Programme
  Integrating mathematics with practical financial knowledge, this programme uses engaging activities such as role-playing and case studies to build students' financial awareness:

  • P1: Introduce earning concepts.

  • P2: Learn saving principles.

  • P3: Understand wise spending.

  • P4: Master budgeting basics.

  • P5: Explore giving and investing.

  • P6: Apply budgeting through real-life scenarios.

Learning Support and Stretch Programmes

Primary 1 to Primary 2

• Learning Support for Mathematics (LSM)
  An early intervention effort aimed to provide additional support to students.

• Math Bridging Programme
  Develops early numeracy skills and builds a solid foundation in counting, sorting, and recognizing patterns.

 Primary 5 to Primary 6

• Remedial Programme
  Weekly small-group sessions to offer targeted support in build up the mastery of Mathematical concepts.

 Primary 4 to Primary 5

• E2K Programme
  Designed for students with exceptional mathematical potential, fosters critical thinking and resilience through challenging problem-solving tasks.

• Competitions

Selected Primary 5 and Primary 6 students are provided opportunities to compete in competitions, igniting their passion and expanding their potential:

• Asia-Pacific Mathematical Olympiad for Primary Schools (APMOPS)

• Raffles Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)

• NUS High Mathematics Olympiad Singapore (NMOS)
